Toronto, Canada

''I think that we are like stars. Something happens to burst us open; but when we burst open and think we are dying; we’re actually turning into a supernova. And then when we look at ourselves again, we see that we’re suddenly more beautiful than we ever were before!'' - C. JoyBell C.

I fell in love with Canada long before ever setting foot there. My Grandmother, an Irish lassie who never left the house without her nails, lips, and eyebrows carefully done, always spoke fondly of this beautiful country. And she was right. When you arrive in Canada, the air feels different and the energy is vibrant and alive, yet relaxed and comfortable. The people are wonderful … loving and caring and conversation is a delight.

A stay in cosmopolitan Toronto isn’t complete without a visit to the world renowned Four Seasons Hotel located in the heart of Yorkville. If you are seeking total luxury, fine dining, and an in-house spa that can cater to your every whim, you’ve come to the right place! From the moment you step in the door, every worry is taken away as bags are quickly whisked to the room, the fluffiest bathrobes and slippers await you, and just steps away, the DBar allows you to relax with a cocktail in their outdoor courtyard overseeing the bustle of Yorkville. I recommend starting with some shared plates and ordering the Charcuterie appetizer. The delicious fried artichokes, and the chickpea and eggplant herbed falafel always make this girl happy. I love to get dressed up and have a glass of wine with friends, and the Dbar is the perfect place to relax, chat, and people watch.  The “Spiced Margarita” was a big hit with the finest tequila, Cointreau, cherry and lemon juice and just the right touch of jalapeno. It will light your mouth on fire in the best way possible!

Heading back to the room for a little R&R, the mood is set instantly by the sumptuous linens, cozy duvet, and an air of peace and tranquility with gorgeous views of the city. The staff at the Four Seasons are the epitome of graciousness. From the moment you walk into the hotel, you can expect to be greeted with open arms and taken care of exquisitely.  The Four Seasons is always known for it’s luxurious amenities and the Toronto location is no exception.  From the front desk to the Concierge, every little thing is taken care of for you during your stay.  With a full service spa, yoga studio, fitness center, indoor pool, you may be tempted to never leave the hotel!

One of my favorite spots at the hotel, the yoga studio at the Four Seasons Toronto is the perfect place to practice your favorite poses. With a remarkable view overlooking the city, along with free weights, treadmills, ellipticals and weight machines, it’s my first destination in the morning. The energy I get from an AM workout is the best way that I know to start the day and keeps me feeling my best. There’s so much to do from the gym to the beautiful indoor pool and spa; it will be hard to choose, so be prepared.

Back in the room, the giant overhead shower feels like a warm rainstorm and washes your cares away. Stepping out and being greeted by the fluffiest of robes, makes the fashion blogging makeup and hair routine that much more enjoyable. I love taking care of my skin and try to use products that are as organic and as chemical free as possible. My skincare products of choice are Rodan and Fields.  It’s a big part of my skin care regimen.  The products are about as pure as they can be yet also super effective.  I became a believer after trying them for a few months and hopped on board to become a Rodan and Fields representative.  After skincare, it’s applying a hint of makeup.  I’m pretty natural and don’t wear a lot of makeup.  I begin with an illuminating primer from Laura Mercier followed by a sheer foundation if I’m going out.  I use a liquid undereye concealer from her as well that seems to lighten the area under the eye that tends to showcase my chronic lack of sleep. I curl my lashes and use a fiber lengthening mascara with a hint of eyeshadow that helps my blue eyes to pop.  I top it off with a bit of translucent powder and always finish with a gorgeous lipstick. I NEVER leave the house without my lips done.  Just like my Irish lassie Grandma!

Time to doll up for the day and that means slipping into a fabulous floral romper by the phenomenal Marissa Webb. I found this one recently on one of the incredible sales at Intermix. Marissa’s designs lend themselves to classics yet always incorporate some fun twists.  This romper is perfect, both for day and evening. The floral design is pure genius and makes you feel so beautifully feminine while allowing you to show off a little leg. Pairing a romper with strappy sandals gives you a dressier look. I found these fuschia suede sandals by Tabitha Simmons online at one of my favorite luxury retailers having been reduced considerably. It’s how I like to shop, always looking for value and scooping up high quality designer fashion at huge discounts. I’m sharing another look with you in the Self Portrait dress at check in. Be on the lookout for my next post on the enclave of Yorkville for a closer look at this lace beauty. You can find great styles and style inspiration by clicking the “Shop” button which will take you to my Witlee store.

Heading to the spectacular Cafe Boulud for a delicious Grilled Wild Alaskan Salmon that’s out of this world is next on the list.  With gorgeous views from every window, it’s a delightful way to spend an afternoon or evening of fine dining.  Chef Daniel Boulud puts a touch of France in just about everything on the menu, from traditional French cuisine to the more unexpected contemporary delicacies.  Be prepared for some pampering, and to let your worries go as you relax and enjoy the scenery and the delicious food.

You can’t go wrong with a trip to the beautiful city of Toronto and a stay at the lovely Four Seasons Hotel. My thanks to the amazing staff for treating this fashion blogger like a princess. Have you been to Toronto? Tell me your favorite hangouts in Yorkville.  I absolutely love hearing from you!

I could watch Schindler’s List and still be happy after reading this.

Sounds lovely! I’ve been on the fence about trying Rodan and Fields mostly because of the cost. Sounds like I should go for it and add Toronto to my list of places to visit. Beautiful post. XO!
