Toronto, Canada

''Keep your face to the sunshine and you can never see the shadow.'' - Helen Keller

A visit to Toronto isn’t complete without a stop in the charming enclave of Yorkville. It’s almost hard to imagine it’s original bohemian roots as the capital of Canada’s hippie counter culture, as today it’s  the epitome of cosmopolitan style. With charming streets that have a bit of the European vibe, it’s an absolute can’t miss if you’re visiting this part of the country.

I chose one of my favorite designers, Self Portrait, for this whirlwind weekend. The designs are absolutely flawless, enhancing the beauty of  your shape no matter what body type you may have. With the most intricate patterns of lace, his designs will make you feel chic and stylish. My pumps by Stuart Weitzman are a classic look that transition seamlessly from day to evening. I love to travel with hats as it’s an easy way to change up a look and protect yourself from the sun’s rays and I love this one by Michael Stars. I found these shades, an awesome copy of the more expensive designer version, at Intermix.  The clutch was a delightful treasure from Asos.

Yorkville is a fashion bloggers paradise with everything from the venerable Holt Renfrew, to Prada and Chanel.  Tanya Heath Paris is located in a darling alley on Old York Lane. Such a fascinating shop, inspired by Tanya when she couldn’t find a comfortable shoe and designed her own line with the first adjustable heel system. Now that’s heaven for a fashion blogger as you can tell by the last photo, this boho blogger is always barefoot by the end of the day! Holt Renfrew is classic Canadian and always reminds me of the days of Bonwit Teller growing up in Chicago. Filled with everything from the finest designer handbags to an endless selection of gorgeous shoes, it’s a must stop once you are north of the border.

After an afternoon of shopping, it’s time to refuel at the famed European espresso bar, Zazu. Like many of you, this girl has a lot of energy, so I always defer to a decaf latte but can’t resist topping it off with a delicious slice of Tiramisu.  To balance out the sugar, the next stop is the Good Press, for some fresh squeezed green juice. Loaded with every kind of smoothie imaginable and a long list of yummy acai bowls, it’s a favorite stop for shoppers looking for a healthy fix. Then, it’s off to browse amongst the fascinating collection of boutiques on Bloor and Cumberland Streets.

No doubt, later in the day, you will work up quite an appetite which can be quickly taken care of with a stop at the renowned Sassafraz, the ideal location to relax with a cocktail and enjoy a bit of people watching. You should absolutely try the Sourdough Grilled Cheese with 3 types of yummy cheese, topped off by the crispiest herbed frites. Sip on a Bellair Collins and order the Savoury French Lentils in the fluffiest puffed pastry. For dinner, I recommend an evening at the Oxley. With a dual courtyard in front and back, it’s the perfect stop at the end of a long day of shopping and sightseeing. This girl loves her fresh grilled salmon, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Seared Alaskan Salmon with a Beluga Lentil Puree.  They offer everything from brunch to dinner with a fabulous “feasting menu” throughout the day.  For brunch, I would head straight to the buttermilk pancakes with fresh maple butter.

At the end of an ideal day in Yorkville, it’s time to cast off the high heels and head back to the lovely Four Seasons for an evening of relaxation. A big part of my routine is making sure that I’ve had my daily fix of nutrition, so I always begin and end my day with the finest superfood nutrition. Then, it’s time to wrap up in a fluffy robe, grab a book and cozy up for the night.  That’s my perfect day in Yorkville. Tell me about yours! Where do you like to go? Let me know your favorite shops and hangouts.  I absolutely love hearing from all of you! Blessings beauties.  Happy styling.
