Hello, I’m Catherine Grace O’Connell, the woman behind the blog CatherineGraceO.  This blog is dedicated to fashion and the many women who share my passion for beautiful design.  To me, women of all ages are to be celebrated and cherished.  I am particularly inspired by those women in their Second Act in life, who are deeply soul searching, reconnecting with themselves and finding their passion and their purpose.   For me, fashion is deeply personal.   It is my medium of creative self expression.  I live to inspire others through my story, and my burning desire to leave the world a more beautiful place.

What does Lyme disease have to do with fashion?

It was just over a year ago that I almost lost my life to this disease.  Life threatening illness has a way of changing a person at their very core.  A critical turning point came during a conversation with my daughter in spring of 2015. By this time, I had spent an entire year bedridden with daily seizures.  My daughter, Maddie, created beautiful mantra cards for me with inspiring pictures and affirmations.  She asked me what I would do if I were well.   I began creating a bucket list.  With my love of fashion, this quickly morphed into the beginnings of a fashion blog.  I began living in that space, dreaming, scheming and visualizing myself as healthy, happy, traveling and wearing beautiful clothes.  And, more importantly, I began healing rapidly.  My love of fashion was literally the key to saving my life.  For me, fashion is about so much more than the clothes.  Fashion is about a connection to who we are at our deepest levels and learning how to express that in a way that is unique to each and every one of us.  There’s nothing more beautiful to me than seeing a woman expressing herself authentically, bringing attitude and confidence to the equation.  Fashion is about feeling beautiful.

Thank you for joining me on my journey and I hope you enjoy the ride!  I love hearing from you.

Catherine’s current collaboration include Maka Designs, Jewelry by Trisha Dunn, Paul Andrew, Ditto Eyewear, and Vellabox Candles. She has been featured on the pages of Beauty Mark by Byron Lars, Delman Shoes, Banana Republic, Anthropologie and Manhattan Denim.   She currently resides in Los Angeles.

Beautiful!!! Now I know why I connect to you so deeply – being bedridden myself for the most part I miss my sassy, self-confident, and loving living life ~ even the most simple things! You give me such hope and I know that I will heal from Lyme disease as well ~~ at that point I will definitely need your help in styling me as the majority of what I wear our pajamas right now! You have such a beautiful soul and I’m so happy for your success because your success is helping so many souls – and isn’t that the greatest gift of all in life?

I can’t wait to read through and see all of the work that you’ve put into this beautiful blog and as always – I absolutely love your Instagram account and will be a forever friend! You have given me such hope for my future and I can never express to you The gratitude that I feel towards you in just a short amount of time that I’ve known you.

Much love my friend!

Love your message, Catherine! It takes quite a bit of courage to turn your story into a beautiful one. You are a burst of inspiration 🙂 It’s a great reminder that clothing should express how we feel or want to feel vs. just representing a meaningless trend.

All the best!
