Doesn’t time seem to go faster and faster each and every year? I don’t quite know how we arrived at another year-end as this year feels like it just began! I’ve never been one to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the traditional way… I suppose I don’t celebrate anything in the traditional way any longer! Breaking the rules seems a natural rite of the midlife passage. The ending of a year also marks the beginning of a new one along with a fresh, clean slate. Who doesn’t love the opportunity of a new beginning?

Part of breaking the rules includes tossing out the fashion rule book. When it comes to New Year’s Eve Style, I don’t believe you have to break the bank in order to sparkle and shine. Who knew you could find fabulous and affordable fashion along with your favorite toothpaste with one click on the new Amazon? Raised on layaway at Loehmann’s and The Dress Barn, I’m pretty sure discovering deals and steals is firmly embedded in my DNA. It’s never been easier to find styles that truly stand out without breaking the bank or stretching your paycheck beyond its confines.

Cozying up in front of the fireplace, a mug of warm ginger tea in hand, I began my quest for the perfect NYE look. Given my penchant for procrastination, I’m a bit addicted to Amazon and it’s free PRIME shipping. The wide range of boutiques within Amazon gives you a huge advantage in discovering a wide range of prices! Amazon was always first on my list when it came to those basic necessities but it’s moved up the ranks as their array of top styles and designer fashion has expanded to rival many of the popular online boutiques. Having grown up in the age of the shopping mall, I’m grateful for the selection of online choices at my fingertips.

New Year’s doesn’t quite seem right without an overload of sequins! With that in mind, it didn’t take me long to spot this sparkly royal blue number with a wink to the 20’s flapper style. The $30 price point is easy on the budget and with a click of the mouse, it would be arriving quickly.  It’s an affordable show stopper and a great option for women who don’t have a lot leftover after their holiday shopping binges. I tossed on a pair of Aquazurra pumps from my collection. Most women have a pair of strappy sandals or pumps which to easily finish off the look. I found this dress surprisingly well made given the price. The fit runs slightly large; I would highly recommend sizing up.

Royal blue is a rich, vibrant color; an ideal choice to celebrate ringing in the New Year. If your budget is slightly higher, this second look by Guess also found on Amazon is only $129. Still affordable and surprisingly comfy with a buttery soft lining, this sequin number fits like a dream. It’s a knockout that can easily cross the ages and will undoubtedly be a showstopper on the dance floor. The cut is super flattering, hugging your curves while giving you room to move. The clutch added a bit more sparkle and was a great find on the Zara website to complete the festive look. Pairing with fishnets and a pair of black patent Mary Janes from my own closet completed the look.

Clearly, enamored with sequins and sparkle, I decided to continue my online quest on Zara. Beloved by women of all ages, Zara is a master of disguising affordable fashion. On first glance, Zara’s looks often get mistaken for those of a top designer. When it comes to a fashion obsession without a giant bank account, it’s easy to find styles that look far more expensive than they cost.

Who wouldn’t fall in love with this sequin coat with velvet trim? A true showstopper, I found it a fun twist on your traditional coat. Tossing it on over Delman’s black suede over the knee boots gave it a youthful feel. Trust me, the compliments will be flowing with this sassy and sexy number. It’s easy to be creative with this number, pairing it with destroyed denim for a Friday night out or tossing on fishnets and the towering dressy pumps for an evening on the town. Don’t forget to toss on a pair of rhinestone earrings to complete the look. I discovered this pair on the sale rack at the Lucky Denim Store. J Crew and Banana Republic usually offer an amazing array of affordable rhinestone accessories. I usually scoop them up at the holiday sales and have them in reserve for those special occasions. Unfortunately, this amazing coat/dress sold out but there are some other Zara finds in the outfit details on top of the post.

I couldn’t resist this black sequin mini dress, also from Zara. (It’s on sale now for $39.99!)I loved the take on the traditional Mandarin collar dress with a fresh twist loaded with sparkle that’s perfect for any NYE festivity. Lined with a super soft velvety material, it’s surprisingly comfy and could easily be dressed down with a pair of black suede over the knee boots. Under $100, it made for an easy choice to add to the list. Just about any black pumps will do. I tossed on the same fishnet tights and Mary Janes as it was an easy way to complete the look. The sequin bag was an on-sale find at Intermix by…. although any simple silver clutch would do.

When it comes to those special occasions, it’s never been easier to find affordable styles that could easily pass for much more expensive, designer looks.

With New Years, quickly approaching, I hope to leave you with some ideas to ring in your own NYE in holiday style. I’ll be celebrating this New Years as I usually do…right at home next to a roaring fire. A pile of magazines by my side, tattered and torn as I set my intentions and create the ideal Vision Board to set my New Year off just right. Whether you’re ringing in the New Year in the middle of Times Square, at a fancy ball or in a quiet gathering at home, I wish you the happiest of New Years. May you continue to sparkle and shine throughout the New Year. Cheers Beauties. Stay Fierce in Fiercely Affordable Fashion!
