There’s a Latin term: Caritas.
Taken literally, it means charity. Stepping back, seen through a more expansive view, it’s larger meaning is about love … and connection.
Ted Lasso took the world by storm this year. The show along with its quietly charismatic lead character exudes charm, empathy and most of all love, sweet love.
Ted is always teaching. Teaching lessons. Teaching to take a step back and think. Teaching love. Teaching team.
After 2020, this world is desperately in need of love. And connection. And community. Oh, and a team, a tribe behind us, beside us – at our backs and all around.
I know what it’s like to be alone and in pain. When I was dying of Lyme Disease, most of the time I was alone. Isolated. Disconnected. What I needed more than anything in the world was connection – community – a tribe – and love sweet love.
Yesterday was World Mental Health Awareness Day.
We live in a world where mental illness is all around us.. 2020 disconnected us. The pandemic crushed our spirits, our mental health.
Mind wellness, mental health, requires a team – a loving tribe who has your back – a team to lean on when you fall.
There is nothing more precious in this world than our mental health.
Mental illness is the root of many of our biggest issues.
Mind wellness is part of the solution.
Love is the cornerstone of Mind Wellness, beginning with Self Love.
Ted Lasso has taken the world by storm because the world needs Ted Lasso. We are in dire need of empathy, compassion, community, connection and most of all, love sweet love.
Perhaps, the essence of Caritas, or Charity or Love begins with Love of Self – giving to ourselves what others couldn’t give – so that we can, in turn, give that love to others.
The most precious gift or charity isn’t money. It’s love. It’s connection. It’s community – a team – a tribe at your back – who has your back. A team to share your ups, to share your downs. A team who understands you just the way you are. A team who loves you just the way you are.
Ted Lasso, I love you. You’re exactly what we need right now. Love sweet love. Caritas.
No matter where you are, ain’t nobody in this room alone.

I have not had the opportunity to see Ted Lasso, but this short clip makes me want to get Apple TV. I did not know goldfish have the shortest memories. I learned something new today. I love you ❤️
