"All the world's a stage.”

Moxie on Monday: Take Center Stage – Be the Main Character in Your Life

Are you ready to expand your imagination beyond anything you’ve ever done before? Shakespeare once said, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” Yet too often, we let others take center stage while we play a supporting role in our own story. It’s time to rewrite the script, to boldly step into the spotlight, and to become the main character starring in your very  own wild and precious life.

I grew up in a family of actors. My mother was an actress. My daughter is an actress in Hollywood. She practically came straight out of the womb and onto the stage. She was starring in musical theatre productions at the tender age of 4! Those talents completely bypassed me as I was far more comfortable backstage behind the scenes, than on center stage. It would take a life threatening illness and a near death experience to awaken me from my stupor and to finally shift my thinking to “Main Character Energy!” at the age of 55!  I may be a late bloomer, but today, I find myself comfy cozy on center stage and finally stepping into playing a starring role in my own life! It’s the one role we are all truly meant to play in life!

Imagine your life as a grand theater production. You, my dear, are both the playwright and the star. Being the main character means showing up fully as your authentic self, unapologetically owning your story, and surrounding yourself with those who cheer you on. It’s about taking the lead and living life on your terms. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Own Your Story

Every main character has a unique story. It’s a Hero’s Journey and YOU are the HERO! Embrace your past, including the messy chapters, as they’ve shaped the person you are today. Own your narrative with pride and be confident in the choices that brought you to this point. Your life is a masterpiece in process and you are the ultimate artiste!

  1. Fill Your Front Row with Your Biggest Cheerleaders!

The people in your front row matter. Surround yourself with those who lift you up, support your dreams, and celebrate your successes. Let go of anyone who brings negativity or tries to dim your light. You deserve a cheering section filled with love, positivity, and unwavering support.

  1. Take Center Stage

Stop playing small. Speak up, share your opinions, and take bold action toward your goals. The main character doesn’t wait for permission or play it safe in the background. Step into the spotlight and fully express who you are, even if it feels uncomfortable. Especially when it feels uncomfortable!

  1. Flip the Script by Rewriting Your Story

You have the power to change your story at any moment. If you’ve been playing a role that no longer serves you, one you’ve outgrown, it’s time for a rewrite – an upgrade! Let go of limiting beliefs and self-doubt, and replace them with a script filled with confidence, courage, and possibility. Don’t be afraid to improv!

  1. Embrace Radical Positivity

The main character knows that life is a rollercoaster of ups and downs. By embracing Radical Positivity, you can face challenges with resilience and an unshakable belief in your ability to overcome them. Focus on the good, practice gratitude, and look for the silver lining in every situation.

As we grow older, there’s an inner pull to become who we were always meant to be. To fully step into our truth and take the lead in our own story. So, take a deep breath, stand tall, and let your inner light shine. The world is waiting for you to take center stage. The time is now. You are the main character. It’s time to live your life boldly and unapologetically!

Because the best productions are the ones where the main character rises, takes the lead, and makes the performance unforgettable. I’ll be right here, cheering you on loudly and proudly, in your front row!
