“The greatest style icons of all time share one powerful quality – the courage to be themselves.” – Catherine Grace O’Connell

The beauty of Fall! Chillier temperatures are here which means it’s time to wrap yourself in comfort in style. If there was only one thing I could buy to brighten up my fall wardrobe and keep me warm and in style, it would be a fabulous shawl. And, not just any shawl, but a shawl that will make heads turn in show stopping style!

I headed over to the gorgeous Museum of Glass in Tacoma for the shoot with the Mox-A -Box in tow. It was a super breezy day with close to 20 mile an hour winds. I was so glad to have this comfy shawl over my shoulders. I knew I found a true statement piece when several women stopped me to ooh and ahh over this gorgeous shawl and the looks I had so much fun creating.

I happened upon this beautiful black and white shawl from Anthropologie a couple of months ago and knew I had to add this to my fall wardrobe. Over the years, I’ve become more minimal with my style by consciously choosing pieces that can go the extra mile. At only $88, this oversized shawl with the most beautiful tassels, is surprisingly affordable as it looks and feels like a much more expensive designer piece. It’s perfect tossed over just about anything from your favorite denim to the dressier pieces I found at a more junior brand, Lulu’s. Adding a comfy shawl is one way to morph a dressier look like this fabulous two piece cream lace maxi dress into daytime style. Tossing on the black and white shawl immediately transforms an elegant look into an easy casual style while also amping up the fashion factor as well as cozy comfort.

I decided to play around with a second look from Lulu’s, this super soft sweater set in a gorgeous buttery shade. Everything at Lulu’s is affordable. That’s the beauty of shopping at Junior brands if you want a higher end look without the designer price tag. I’m wearing a size Small in both the maxi dress and the sweater set. Although it’s a junior brand, Lulu’s tends to run a tiny bit larger than similar brands. Both the maxi dress and the sweater set are really well priced at $78. Mixing up the pieces is an easy way to get a lot of mileage out of these looks. Tossing on the turtleneck sweater with the lace maxi skirt, adding a statement belt like this rhinestone one by Below The Belt, with the shawl thrown over your shoulders, makes an instant show stopping look without breaking the bank. The nice thing is the pieces can be worn from fall well into spring. Minimal price with maximal wear is a big part of my style philosophy.

Another fall purchase are the over the knee off white suede boots by Jeffrey Campbell. I have lived in my OTK boots. Jeffrey Campbell is high on style while also offering a more affordable price point. This pair is $164 and can easily be worn with just about anything from your favorite denim to mini skirts and mini dresses. Lulu’s has a pair at a lower price point of $58 that comes in a beautiful shade of beige. I tested the Lulu’s pair out for comparison sake. If you’re super budget conscious, it’s a great alternative to the Jeffrey Campbell style. Truthfully, you do sacrifice a bit of comfort and quality with the Lulu’s version.

Fashion will always have a place in my heart. I do feel, as we get older and, hopefully, wiser, that also translates into more wisdom in choosing what to add to our wardrobe. I’m beginning to understand that less is more which means adding a statement piece like this show stopping shawl is the perfect way to amplify your fall/winter wardrobe with minimal expense.

Cheers Beauties! What’s on your wardrobe wish list?
