"The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have.”
Norman Vincent Peal Tweet
Beauties, I’ve been in a slump for some time now.
Feeling Schlumpy! (Is that even a word?!)
Feeling schlumpy is anathema to an energy worker like me. I’m sensing, it may be for you as well. Life is a whole lot more fun when we’re feeling groovy. You know, energized and alive!
When we’re brimming with energy, we feel far more alive. It’s like a car running on fumes or a full tank of gas.
Several weeks ago, I shared a Moxie (you can find the post here) that talked about my daughter and how she went from an energetic slump in her career to a big, bold leap that propelled her career to another level. I was deeply inspired by my girl and decided to take this dip in my energy seriously. I knew it was time for a change.
That led me to making some changes in my life, beginning with my business. When I started this new life and new beginning on social media over 7 years ago, things were vastly different. I was so excited to get up in the morning and to connect with my peeps and the community I was building online. It was all new at the time. It gave my life purpose. I found meaning in what I was doing, and this new path energized me.
Well, fast forward 7 years and the world of social media has changed dramatically. And let’s be real, I’ve changed dramatically. I was no longer energized by being on social media each day. Frankly, I began to dread it. Now, let me be clear – I still loved seeing my peeps online. The problem was, with the crazy algorithm filtering my online community, I was no longer actually seeing the people I cared about. And they weren’t seeing me. It was getting harder and harder to look forward to being online. My creativity was being zapped along with much of my energy.
So, I decided to do something about it!
I’m in the midst of an experiment with my fierce sister, Jodie Filogomo. We are changing things up and we plan to share what we’re doing and what we’re discovering with all of you!
Now, you may not be feeling like I do about social media or your career. It may be another area of your life that needs some energizing. Perhaps it’s your relationship or your health and wellness. What I know for sure is that if there is an area of your life that’s draining you, it’s time for a reboot. Life is far too short to live with something, anything or anyone, draining your energy. The most important thing is to step back and to pay attention to the things in your life and ask yourself a question: “Are they energizing you or draining you? Do they add to your life or take away from it?”
It’s really that simple. Now, if there is something that’s leaking energy in your life, it’s time to take action. It’s time to shake things up! That’s exactly what I’m doing with Jodie. Yes, we are a bit pooped in the process but that’s only because we’ve added a lot more work to our calendars. The cool thing is that I’m finding that I’m much busier but I’m also much happier. I realized that I needed this! I needed to shake things up and find a new path. I love the process of creation. I also love learning new things. And I’m doing both right now.
So, stay tuned as we will be sharing everything we learn.
Why not join us? Find something in your life you can reevaluate and change the energy for the positive! Let us know how you’re doing too! Let’s make it a group effort. Now, this doesn’t have to be dramatic like what my daughter did or what Jodie and I are taking on at the moment. It can be something really simple. Maybe it’s making one change in your daily routine or in your health and wellness routine. Maybe it’s not adding something but taking one thing off your plate – the one thing that’s draining your energy. Or, maybe it’s just adding a bit more self care into your daily routine. It’s really up to you! You know you better than I do.
When we take stock of our energy, it’s like looking at our bank account. Our daily activities either add to our energy bank or they drain it. It’s really that simple. If there is something on the debit side of things that’s causing you to leak energy, that’s where you need to look. Stop the leaks! Find things that energize you and add those to your energetic bank account!
That’s it, Beauties!
I’m feeling energized and, most importantly, I’m feeling happy. Really happy. I’m hopping out of bed and ready to get to work every day. Just like I felt many years ago when I began this crazy venture on social media.
So, how about you?
Are you ready to shake things up? I thought so! Let’s do this together.
