Forever Fierce Day 2021

“Midlife Matters.” – Catherine Grace O’Connell

Just a few years ago, I was anything but Fierce.

Just a few years ago, I wasn’t really anything …

Anything at all.

At least I felt that way.

I really didn’t care to be around anymore.

Sometimes, it takes the universe more than a few knocks to wake us up.

Sometimes, it takes a rumble.

Sometimes, an earthquake.

Sometimes, for stubborn souls like me, it takes almost losing our lives to want to live again – to begin to wake up to the power, beauty and love that’s been inside of us all along.

Let’s just say I didn’t go looking for Fierce.

Fierce went looking for me.

Fierce found me.

To be Fierce is to live life with a heartfelt intensity.

Yes, there is another definition of Fierce, one that has absolutely nothing to do with being aggressive. It’s the only kind of Fierce I know!

Somehow, the Universe conspired with me to create space for the birth of a new Self.

A Fierce Self.

Just 4 years ago, there was another kind of birth as well: the birth of Forever Fierce, a global community celebrating women at Midlife & Beyond, on February 19th, 2017.

11 Pounds, 11 Ounces. (Hehe! The power of one!)

The “Tribe With the Kind Vibe” was born from our hearts through a united vision to shift the perception of women at Midlife & Beyond to one that is vibrant, relevant and empowered. The only way to understand the true power of Midlife is to cross the threshold – to pivot from who you “should be” to who you “choose to be.”

Midlife isn’t an age. It’s an experience.

Forever Fierce is one gigantic melting pot – one where we delight in our multicultural diversity as well as our steadfast belief that we are stronger together.

Looking back, the past 4 years have been miraculous. The miracle of a new life, a new mission and a whole bunch of beautiful kind-hearted sisters from all over the world. I can’t help but reflect on my good graces, on how my journey of Self has led me to understand that true friends aren’t possible until you’ve made friends with yourself first.

Today, I have some of the dearest friendships on the planet, friendships I never dreamed of, friends I didn’t believe I deserved.

Until, I did.

If there is one thing I’ve learned in almost 6 decades of life on this crazy planet, it’s that life only gets better and better when we learn to love the heck out of ourselves.

Friendships deepen when we deepen.

It all boils down to this: our capacity for external friendship is equal to our capacity for internal friendship.

Our capacity for loving another is limited by our capacity for loving ourselves.

When our hearts burst open, beginning with love for ourselves, is when our world transforms: our hearts become a powerful magnet for miracles and magic, for goodness and grace.

As my fierce sister, Amy Kennedy, once shared after joining us at FierceCon, “Yes, Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus! Forever Fierce is real. It’s real!”

Oh, yes, it’s real.

You’re invited to find out for yourself by joining us in a global celebration on Friday, February 19th – the 50th Day of the Year – National Forever Fierce Day! You’ll find a schedule of events in our newsletter (sign up here!) and in the Forever Fierce Community on Facebook.

Cheers Beauties, Stay Fierce. Forever Fierce!

Because Midlife Matters.
